What is the thinking behind Quillcards?
We designed Quillcards to be visually attractive and simple to use. Our approach is that we don't have a category labeled for example, 'birthday cards'. Instead, our photos are grouped in themes such as 'The Natural World' and you are free to use the photos to put in your ecards in the way that you want.

The way it works is simple - choose a photo and a background color - write a message (and add one of our Flash™ greetings if you wish), check that your ecard looks OK, and send it.

And it won't get more complicated. We designed it to be simple, and we'll keep it that way. Our emphasis is on making distinctive, elegant, and beautiful ecards that are a pleasure to receive and easy for you to send.

When it comes to choosing photos for your ecards however, there are lots to choose from. And we are adding more all the time, so we recommend you check out the 'Recently Added' section from time to time. What is more, all the photographs are ours - all original and unique to this site.

We also enjoy gathering memorable, thought-provoking, insightful quotations and pairing them with our photographs - you'll find these in the 'Quotations World' and 'Festive and Seasonal' sections - and we will continue to add these regularly too.

How do I join Quillcards?
To join Quillcards, go to the JOIN page to complete your personal details. You will then be transferred automatically to Paypal’s own secure website to pay for your membership. Paypal accepts all major credit cards worldwide and you do not have to be a member of Paypal to make your payment. Paypal will complete the transaction in U.S. dollars at the appropriate rate for your national currency.

Once you have paid for your membership, you will be returned automatically to Quillcards.

Before you can log in and begin sending ecards, however, you must activate your account. To do this, check your emails and you will find an email from us with an activation link in it. If you don't see that email, check whether it went into your spam folder.

Click the link in the email to activate your account. Now you can log in to Quillcards and begin sending ecards.

Once you have activated your account we will send you a 'Welcome' email with some useful information to help you get the very best out of Quillcards.

What happens when it is time to renew my membership?
We will send you a reminder when it is time to renew your yearly membership. Because payments are made via Paypal, you are in charge of renewing your membership.

Can I send as many ecards as I want once I become a member?
You can send as many ecards as you like provided the numbers are within the spirit of the examples we give in our Terms of Use. There we give the example of Jane, who likes to send as many as ten ecards to her friends almost every day, and that might amount to something around three or four thousand ecards per year. That number and the fact that she is sending her ecards to people she knows means this is acceptable use.

We also give the example of Jack, a businessman who wants to send hundreds of ecards daily to his business contacts, customers, and prospects. That might run into tens of thousands of ecards per year. That is not within the spirit of this site. Therefore it would not be acceptable use. If on the other hand Jack wants to send ecards to certain business clients he knows personally, and perhaps also to his friends and relatives, and overall he sends no more than the kind of numbers we describe for Jane - then that would be acceptable use. Of course, if Jack wants to send most of his ecards during the holiday season, that is OK with us.

How do I import my email contacts to 'My Quillcards'?

  Importing from Windows
   You can import your email contacts from your Windows address book as a CSV file, which you make as follows:

  • Open Address Book.
  • From the 'File' menu select 'Export' then 'Other Address Book...'
  • In the 'Address Book Export Tool' dialog select "Text File (Comma Separated Values)" and click 'Export'.
  • Save the file and click 'Next'.
  • Select the check boxes for the fields that you want to export and then click 'Finish'. Select the email address and name fields.
  • Click 'OK' and then click 'Close'.

   Now that you have the file, go to 'Import Contacts' in 'My Quillcards', choose the file and upload it.

  Importing from Mac OS X
   You can import your email contacts from your Mac OS X address book by exporting a vCard file, as follows:

  • Open Address Book.
  • Select the contacts you want to export.
  • Select 'Export vCards...' from the File menu.
  • Save the file, then click 'Save'.

   To import the file into Quillcards, go to 'Import Contacts' in 'My Quillcards', choose the file and upload it.

How often do you send out newsletters?
We send newsletters five or six times a year. We send them to our members and to people who have used our free cards and opted to receive our newsletters.

The newsleters contain information about improvements to our service as well as notifying you about new categories we have added to our ecard collection and articles we have written.

As a member if at any time you don't want to receive these newsletters, just edit the newsletter setting in the 'Profile' section of 'My Quillcards'.

What is your charity policy?
It's simple: We pledge to donate not less than five per cent of our profit to charities we support.

We are especially concerned about poverty and illiteracy; climate change and pollution; the threats facing wildlife worldwide; and the inhumane treatment of wildlife and farm animals.

Our longer-term intention is to set up a charitable trust so we can help address at least some of these issues directly.
