Sleeping Dogs On The Streets Of India
There are very many dogs in India, and most of them seem to be living in packs and on their wits.
We saw dogs sleeping like these two all the way across India from Delhi and Agra in the north west of India to Darjeeling in the far north east.
Dogs In Udaipur
It was in Udaipur in Rajasthan that we saw a pack of dogs face off a single dog that was trying to sneak in and grab some some scraps of food.
The pack leader and the lone dog stood facing each other while a little dog from the pack jumped forward as though eager to set to, and then repeatedly turned around to the leader as though to say,
"But of course I do not mean to question your authority: I am just enthusiastic and eager to please."
The Fate Of The Lone Dog
After a lot of snarling and collective barking and outrage, the lone dog backed off and walked away. We felt empathy for his courageous stand against the pack and wondered why he was not in a pack himself. Was he a kind of 'tramp' figure from The Lady and The Tramp or something else...
