Hey, sounds like fun with your hermit crabs! Seeing that they are hermits, no wonder they hide, eh?

Great, imaginative response there about why they laugh: Sounds 'logical' to me!

Or maybe they think you're a stellar owner and so they are keeping YOU amused, perhaps?

I have five, good-humored hermit crabs. I think. They hide under things, and change their shells quite often. So, I'm never quite sure how many I have.

I have no idea what they're laughing about. Maybe hermit crabs have a subtle sense of humor over being put in an aquarium, with a small pond, surrounded by dogs and birds! :)

How long have you have your hermit crabs - and how many do you have, by the way? Yes, they probably aren't thrilled about being taken from the seas, as you noted.

How phenomenal to think of hermit crabs laughing! Does this happen often? And what do you think they find so funny? How fascinating...

Hermit crabs are delightful pets, but probably aren't fond of being plucked out of the ocean for our pleasure. Interesting thing about them: They laugh. Loudly. In the middle of the night. And, sometimes they can be heard from the other end of the house...;)

Our pleasure, Teresa -- and I hope your menagerie enjoys their celebration too (and how interesting that you have hermit crabs as pets, I have never heard of that)!
