Hi Sukari,

Glad to hear you enjoyed the movie (I thought Audrey Tatou was such a good choice for the role of Coco), and I'm happy to hear that you enjoyed this article too.

Interesting comment that you're a bit of a separatist - I identify with that one myself :-) - and I agree with you, I think Chanel before this movie was often portrayed with that classic shot of her wearing many strings of pearls and so she didn't seem that accessible except for the very rich. It was great to see what a freedom seeker and individualist she was in fact...

Many thanks for your kind compliments and interesting thoughts here, we appreciate it.

I just saw the movie 'Coco before Chanel' - I was moved by the love story between her and 'Boy' and then her ascension to the fashion icon we know of still today. I greatly enjoyed the movie and later the article which outlined her life.

A bit of a separatist myself, I enjoyed her fashion boldness displayed in the film. Previously I thought Chanel was only for the rich, but now I know that women everywhere have Chanel to thank for FREEDOM and flair. Thank you, thank you.

Hi Brenda - Thanks so much for your compliments here, I appreciate them, and I'm very pleased to hear that I helped to fill in the gaps for you about Coco Chanel's background. Yes, I agree with you - she surely had an incredibly interesting life!

Also, I want to mention that I just looked at your website through your name here – and your 'Portmanteau Ceramics' are beautiful! Such unique and stylish designs, really unusual items. I can understand even more now why you are interested in Coco Chanel because of your own interesting designs.

[Note: Sorry I'm a bit behind in answering these comments, but I've been out of town for some days and only returned last night.]

Hi T. Lee - I appreciate your compliments, and that you especially enjoyed the background story of Chanel's life. Hope your partner also enjoys using Coco Mademoiselle (which I believe is a new perfume of hers, yes?).

Hi Joan- Many thanks for your lovely remarks, and I'm also happy to hear that I've inspired you to see the film that's out now on Chanel. Since I know that you like Audrey Tatou a lot and because she looks so much like photographs of Chanel as everyone says, I bet you'll enjoy the film all the more.

Hi Nothing Profound - I appreciate your thoughtful remarks, particularly how you characterized Chanel. I always knew she 'did a lot', but I never realized until researching for this article just what an influential ground breaker she was.
